Ursula Sax








  • Ursula Sax is a Berlin sculptor, who has been doing work for 50 years, yet many have never heard of her, or seen most of her work.
  • She once studied with Hans Uhlmann.
  • Currently, The Berlin Gallery is featuring an 80 piece collection of her photography and sculptures.
  • Today she is 75 years old, and hoping to return back to Berlin after years of teaching at the Dresden Art Academy.
  • She uses repitition of similar shapes that are simple colors
  • Shadows in her sculptures create high contrast in her work
  • Most of her sculptures are completely line 
  • Her work is mostly abstract, but sometimes figuritive
  • She first worked in wood, later she would work more in black and white metals, then she worked in stone, and during her later years she would utilitize color in her designs
